Would this work on a non-standard keyboard configuration? (I've got a swedish keyboard. + is to the right of 0 and - is left of right shift).
I have absolutely no idea. Try it, and try the same keys north american keyboards would have + and - on.
The problem with +/- is that it also increases the game's input. So if animation is faster, you have less control over your character. Having no frames at all is a little different.
I too want to remove all animations from playing. This is a Roguelike after all. Graphics and animation is sacrilege.
Nah. I am kidding about the graphics. The animations being toggled off may improve performance for some really inferior systems, but I doubt it would really help even in the worst cases. We are using software rendering. Bring back OpenGL and we may have 10x the performance, but it would greatly complicate things for the game and the various Windows, Mac, and Linux systems out there.
