The bookcases spawning containing duplicate recipes and teaching me nothing are really getting on my nerves. The current system leads to diminishing returns each thing I learn brings closer the point where I just luck out and get rooms full of useless bookcases. I just want to dual weild clockwork ravagers made with my own hands. At this point my forrays have shown the weapon is about as likely to pop out of a lutefisk idol as it is me ever learning the dual recipes required. I suggest that the recipe provided by a bookcase is randomly picked from recipes unknown by the adventurer upon activation. Unless you are some deranged omnicrafter gear collector a fair portion of the recipes will be of little use to you anyway.
I fully support this idea. I like using crafting skills a lot and it really is annoying trying to get one specific recipe, especially when you have a lot of crafting mods installed. It shouldn't be a guaranteed thing, but maybe this could raise the chances a little bit. Perhaps there could still be a chance to get "You found nothing interesting in this bookcase."
I also support this, although along with this the spawn rate of bookcases should be lowered - maybe to 3/4th or 4/5th of what it is now.
Well then you would have to change the rooms that have a ton of bookcases in them by default, and that includes a lot of rooms in mods.
I believe Nick or Dbaum already indicated they supported always getting recipes in theory. Its just a matter of finding the time to code that system in, given all the other demands on their resources. They didn't say it was coming, just that it was an idea they agreed with. Edit: That said, I can't find a post where they said that after a few min of searching. So maybe it was all in my head.
