I've come up with an idea for a DoD skills mod, which I'm planning to implement, although I'd love the community to have some input on what they think would be cool/ what they would like to see. This is a parody mod of Lord of the Rings, where I plan to implement a few skill trees parodying various aspects of JRR Tolkeins epics. So first things first, the mod: Skill: Baronet of the Rings - "Why be a lord when you could be a feudal age land owner?" I plan for the player to start the game with a Ring of 'Power', the name of which is flexible, although I'm thinking something along the lines of "The One Ring to Rule Most of Them" or such. Anyways I plan for the core skill progression to be centered around this ring, and as you level the skill, it mostly adds more power to the ring (if indeed it is possible to do such a thing with items on leveling up a skill), with maybe some offering passive skill increases so the item doesnt become too overpowered. I'm open to suggestions to what the abilities could be, but I've come up with a few ideas: - Invisibility - I know this already exists as a potion effect, this could be augmented with negative effects such as a health or mana drain, as wearing a ring of power should bear burden on the wearer. This would be a spell that the player can cast on themselves. - Summon Minion - Summon some kind of LOTR themed pet/companion to fight for you for a short time - Negative Necromatic Resistance - Weakens the wearer to dark magic, in an attempts to mimic the affect of the ring attracting and weakening the wearer to Ringwraiths. - It's My Preciousss - Significantly increase attack power and dodge chance for a short time when health drops below a certain level, don't like the evil diggleses take the precious. - What's it got in it's pocketses? - A higher chance to loot larger amounts of gold from a dead monster Just thinking as I type here, the last two could maybe form some seperate Gollum themed skill tree... A Gandalf/Wizard one would be pretty sweet too, stuff like Wizard Fireworks - "You don't seem to display much magical skill, but you can make some badass fireworks." I have other ideas, but I'm too tired to think clearly just now. Let me know what your first impressions are, any ideas you'd like to add, and indeed if you'd even play a mod like this if it was available! I'm sure if I put some proper work in to it, it could turn out pretty swell.
