(For the purpose of this thread, a gish is defined as a warrior who uses magic like viking wizardry or astrology to empower their attacks.)

I've been working on a skill called Sweet Tooth, to be released next version of Sweet, Sweet Swag. It's supposed to be a tree that gives support spells and bonuses to both wizards and gishes, while keeping within the theme of a demented candy-maker. Simply put, this skill makes the player Willy Wonka.

The skills planned are as follows:

    Level 0: Sweet Find
You often find new, exotic flavors by occasion while tearing an enemy apart. Manufacturing a prototype is no problem.
The first level is fairly simple. It gives the player a proc which occasionally spawns a random Gummi Diggle color whenever you kill an enemy. Additionally, it gives the player six recipes, all of which combine two diggles of the same color to create candy vodka of its color--I'm thinking a 15:mana: recovery.

    Level 1: Sugar Coat

You can wrap yourself in Solid-Defying Pure White Sugar, being able to take a few hits because of how hard it is.
This level grants a passive 1:armor_asorb: and 5:magic_resist:, and also grants a buff castable with a mana cost (I'm thinking 10:mana: upper and 5 lower) that grants 3:armor_asorb: and 25:reflection: until you get hit ten times.

Level 2: A Cottage Made Entirely Out Of Chocolate
Your candymaking skill is still not very advanced, so the only building you can make entirely out of chocolate is a simple, one-room cottage. It also melts very rapidly, causing a flood of chocolate to wreck havoc upon your enemies.
This level grants the spell Spawn Cottage Made Entirely Out Of Chocolate, which... Spawns a cottage made entirely out of chocolate. It's a one tile blocker which lasts 20 turns, and starting from its second turn of existing and until it disappears, casts a two tile wide chocolate field to appear, dealing :dmg_putrefying: damage every turn. (Need an amount!)
Additionally, this skill level grants you three more recipes. Advanced Candy Vodka made from Red + White, Blue + Green and Purple + Yellow. They all restore 25:mana: over time.

    Level 3: Sweet Harvest
Bring me the fiends! I will tear apart their innards and find the most depraved flavors to feed to the candy-lovers! What they want is not flavor, it's an adventure!
The only thing this level does is add a 100% proc when you hit that restores 2:mana: when you hit. (Lower percentage? 1:mana:?)

    Level 4: Sugar Blast
Mine sugar shall end everything. I am the gummi and the hard candy. I am the liquorice and the caramel. It is juice and sugar that flows through my veins more than the blood of mortals.
This spell channels the sweetness from deep inside your corrupted heart, unleashing a three tile wide, unanchored template spell that deals some :dmg_putrefying: damage to anything caught in its way, and also stuns them unresistably. No clue what the mana cost should be.

    Level 5: Candy Golem
They said I was crazy. They mocked me. The whole world stood there and mocked me! But now, I am the one who mocks them, for my ultimate creation is invincible, and will dole out sweet, sweet justice on every one that has ever mocked me. Justice, I say!
This is the finale. This spell summons a golem with a pink tint, with really weak attack but a really high endurance (lots of :life: and :armor_asorb:?). Additionally, after ten turns(?), the golem will explode, leaving sweet food scattered all around (possibly also dealing damage?).

EDIT: Almost forgot; I want each level to give one point of something. The question is, :magic_resist: or :mana:? Which one sounds more fair?

Balance suggestions, etc? I've already got most of the art assets ready, so I just need initial thoughts.

You're already granting a passive 5 MR, which is a pretty good chunk as skill bonuses go.

That being said, I was just contemplating candymancers for this game. I think you've got the right idea, though.

Throwing in a few (FEW) good Wonka references wouldn't hurt. Maybe add the purple top hat. "You get nothing! You lose! Good day sir!" etc.

Also, if possible, make the golem kamikaze attack work if killed as well. Pinata style.

Stun on ranged targets is pretty powerful; it should be a bit on the more expensive side, but you'd have to talk to someone who knows the mana costs a bit better. I find myself thinking this could be an incredibly powerful move against Dredmor. Hmm.

Also, "wreak havoc" not "wreck havoc"

If i think of anything else after sleep I'll let you know.

There's already a few references, such as the Cottage Made Entirely Out Of Chocolate, which is a small parallel to the palace Willy Wonka is said to have built entirely out of chocolate in the 2005 film. Also, the entire skill tree is about being Willy Wonka, then becoming insane. A purple top hat doesn't sound bad, though.
Can't believe I didn't think of that. Totally doing that.
I was sure it would be a good ability, but since it's potentially overpowered, I'll check with some people on the cost.
Whoops, my bad. Not a native English speaker. i am the spainard man, coming from spainland

    There, that's better.

Level 1's buff is pretty strong. I might cut it back to 6 hits, or give it an elemental resist penalty (-:resist_conflagratory: might be thematically appropriate: candy does melt, after all).

    No candies for us, then?
