Why does the skill say that tinkering will improve your mechanical attacks when only one of them is based on tinkering? All the others apparently use smithing as their base. I only take tinkering with it so I can build clockwork gear.

Well, it helps. Also, you get recipes for clockwork stuff too (powerlimb, helm, chest armor, leg armor) which is always nice at reducing your reliance on RNG a little.

Sadly, Rocket Boots (really awesome for blasting resist) and the Clockwork Actuators (belt) are up to RNG, no guaranteed way to get em. Also, the really awesome Magnetronic Armor needs RNG for recipe.

  3. Actually, Clockwork Actuators are the pants, and don't rely on RNG much at all. The Clockwork Regular Belt is somewhat reliant on the RNG (on a few runs I've not been able to find enough Leather Belts or a Leather Girdle to make it) but it's not too bad. I'm not sure what you were thinking of there.

Yeah the pant recipe comes from clockwork knight. It's the regulator belt that needs you to find the recipe.
