With the inclusion of a lot of new markers, the minimap has gotten quite crowded. I think it might be time to completely redo it...right now, it is useful, but often a bit sketchy in terms of accuracy because of the various symbols and their (sometimes not standardized) sizes. The improvements thus far are fantastic-- I just worry about it actually scaling well as the game gets more content. And although it does work, it isn't as great as it could be, especially with time/over long plays.

    A few ideas:
    • A large, screen-sized map which can be pulled up, or which can be overlaid with custom transparency settings.
    • Option to choose between current map system and new one as suggested.
    • Ability to click and drag corner of minimap to expand it out to custom size...the second zoom is not quite big enough, but the next one is too big for me, etc.
    • Ability to scroll backwards to maps of previous dungeons.
    • Options to choose what you want shown-- checkboxes to select teleport runes, quest statues, lutefisk god, etc.
    • Map markers for vending machines please!
    • Allow for the user to create their own custom notes on the map.
    • Probably a luxury: a close zoom map that shows enemy positions, traps, and other things nearby.

I am quite happy with the redraw of the icons. They are Beautiful. Most of what you want is luxury. The only thing I would ask is that if that a bookcase icons be removed from the map as they are used because they have no use after you search them and they often block other important things on the map.

After playing some more and using a larger map setting, i agree with you. A lot of this stuff is a bit silly haha. And on a larger setting, the icons dont feel cluttered at all.

The only thing I'd really like is vending machines and an overlay/transparency option.

I agree with the vending machines.. I end up missing alot of them when I go to back track with enough gold to get what I want. The transparency is probably really easy to addl.. from what I understand of other image editing programs like photoshop.

Something I've noticed is that many icons now make it look like there is a gap in the walls above them, which is misleading in an unhelpful way when you've nearly cleaned up a floor and are looking for stray unexplored rooms and/or shortcuts to specific locations.

ive noticed this too. it seems to mostly happen when you use the smaller zooms.
