When using Talhoffer's Lunge Strike against an enemy, the enemy was able to counter attack and damage me despite being well out of melee range. Is this intentional?
Yes, because technically in the code it's a normal attack and so it can be countered (instead of a spell).
Yeah, I noticed it as well. Sort of defeats most of the purpose of staying at range. I suppose it still gives you slightly more range to use against casting critters, and a multi-attack. But in my playthrough I ended up using it far more for knocking down walls than actually fighting.
Any chance of counterattack getting a proximity check? Doing so might add scope for monsters that can attack with reach, meaning the hero can't counter them...
it's easy to script the spell effect so that the attack cannot be countered. Simply apply a debuff effect that reduces counter to 0, apply the damage, then remove the buff effect. the player won't even notice it.
Yeah, I swear I'm getting countered occasionally when using a crossbow. I feel like it happens when one of my procs goes off, e.g. Hunter's Strike from Big Game Hunter, or possibly the amber ring of unending time. Crossbow attacks being countered seems like something that should be fixed.
Yep, I have seen my crossbowman getting countered from range. Not sure if it's related to procs or not.
