How is this game? Is it decently challenging or will I get bored after a day or two? I prefer challenging stuff that isn't too easy otherwise that kills my attention span for it. Also, I saw it's sandbox play it looks like...but that has me wondering what sort of sandbox it means by that.... Is it missions? Or is it random? Or is it I just pick an area and play? I would prefer good replay value. Can someone shed some light on this please? Thanks!
Nevermind, found this pdf with all the information http://clockworkempires.com/assets/CE_minimanual_inprogress_2014July18.pdf
That manual you dug up (I didn't even know it existed!) is pretty out of date by now, since it was updated last summer. Generally speaking, the thrust of the game remains the same, but there have been a ton of additional features, assets, mechanics, and refinements added. There's no overarching mission structure at the moment, and I gather the intention is to set your own goals and survive and hopefully prosper. Replay value arises from branching decision trees and random events and conditions, as well as the long-term ramifications of things like policy decisions.
Yup, that's pretty old. I recommend checking out the really cool wiki: http://clockworkempires.gamepedia.com/Clockwork_Empires_Wiki
