I was just thinking about how no other game out there has a crafting system as compelling as this one. Lots of RPGs attempt crafts, but they usually fail at complexity and depth-- Fallout, Skyrim, lots of MMOs, the Tales series, etc. Crafting in Dredmor may not be perfect, and it certainly has a way to go still, but it's much more interesting (and rewarding!) than most games out there.
Seeing as it was a few days and your post is still lonely in this thread, I'll just add that I'm with you. Crafting is good in this game. The way we access recipes is kind of simplistic and might become an inconvenience were there too many recipes in the game (not that it will happen, seeing as we do have the "move page forward/backward" buttons too), but generally speaking it's pretty neat.
Only other MMOs where I enjoyed the crafting system were EverQuest and Atlantica Online. Maybe Spiral Knights for it's simplicity. The only other thing I'd add to this is that I'd love a Search bit for recipes.
In what other game could you use a pair of Lederhozen + A Starry Orb + 2 X Bottle of Absint to encrust your shield with Hegel? Crafting is where all the wonderfull tooltip jokes meet and party
