I'm messing around with a Xbow Long Ranged Trickster Assassin dude. He has: -XBows -Assassination -Deadshot -Perception -Burglary -Tinkering -Wand Lore Assassination and Deadshot is for extra damage. Perception seems useless but I want to try it. Burglary is just good. Tinkering is obv for bolts and traps. Wand Lore is just for healing/debuff dispelling and all the other wandy perks. I don't want hybrid warrior/mage builds but pure xbow man. I guess Deadshot and Perception are the most useless skill here, but I don't know with what to replace them. As I sad, no magery or melee combat. I was thinking about Thrown Weapons + Smithing (because smithing can craft thrown weapons). I'll probably level Xbows first, then Tinkering, Burglary, and so on. What do you guys think? What should I change or if it's ok, what should I level? Thank you.
Do assassin bonuses trigger on crossbow hits? Either way, I'd drop perception, or assassination in order to pick up artful dodger. The early ability to jump out of combat is pretty essential with a ranged character. In fact, I'd take knightly leap on my first level.
I found the unarmed bonuses apply to crossbow/thrown attacks as long as you don't equip a weapon. I would recommend taking unarmed. The stats it gives you are just crazy.
Unarmed will add 10 more damage to your xbow build. It's must-have for my xbower. For assasination, the first two procs won't happen for your build, but the third proc will do . Trade your perception with psionics, and you will find wonder. IMHO.
I beat the game in beta with the following build: - Archery - Throwing - Unarmed - Shield Bearer - Master of Arms - Smithing - Tinkering As much as you want to be a pure archer, you really can't waste bolts on every enemy you see. In fact, I'd suggest not using bolts at all early on - save them for the high special damage dealers later in the dungeon that you can't resist with pure armor.
