Curses!

I've been playing another Rouge-like game called "Powder". For me, the main part that makes it fun is the curses placed on items. Just like Dungeons of Dredmor, Powder spawns random items over the dungeon. But some of these items are cursed. And once put on, cant be taken off. (unless you can get rid of the curse with a potion or scroll) I find it fun taking a risk with items like that, and not knowing if its safe to put an item on, or if its going to kill you.

I think it would be awesome if some of the items in Dungeons of Dredmor showed stats but when equiped they would do something else.

Example: You pick up an iron ring. It gives you +2 block and +1 dodge. However once you put it on the stats change to: -2 block and -1 dodge. And it sticks to your finger. You can only take it off with something that cleans de-buffs. Like a Purity Potion, or a Zodiacal Wand.

Maybe add another skill to the game that identifies the items in your inventory.

If your un-lucky enough Krong might add a curse that sticks an item to your hand. (Or head or body or where-ever you equipped it too)

    Thanks for reading.

OMG. I love Powder. Ascended (actually, more like descended and then ascended) twice, both with smashy-warrior builds.

That said, sticky curses are really evil-mean-bad. I do not miss them from NetHack, Powder or any other roguelike. Some "sticky" cursed items are a near-guaranteed DYWYPI and killing yourself with one is considered a YASD for a reason. The lack of "hidden attribute", "identify" and "sticky curse" mechanics is good in DoD IMO. There's a point at where things go past "challenging/encouraging caution" to "pain in the ass".
