When the player saves and reloads, or changes floors, all delayed triggers on things aren't saved. So for instance say you want to go downstairs. Before you do feel free to cast all necronomiconomics spells indiscriminately and suffer no consequences. The triggers will simply disappear. You can also just save the game after casting and suffer no consequences. It's quite easy to test this. Simply use any spell and then save and reload to suffer nothing. EDIT: This also applies to dots. You can simply save to cleanse your Blood Debt/Thaumites/Fairywodger.
Every spell that is cast repeatedly by something without requiring player input is a dot. Healing over time and damage over time effects are all dots.
