Diggles... diggling...

So the other day my internet was cut off. Some issue in the building, it doesn't really matter. I opened Steam in offline mode to play a game or two. I opted for self-flagellation and chose dungeons of dredmor on GRPD with a random skillset.

Much to my surprise I did reasonably well and got to floor 8. That's not that point, though.
What is the point is that throughout that journey and every dungeon I've delved since diggles have been jumping in and out of the ground. Very nearly every time I walk into a room where there are more than one of them they... diggle themselves in and out of the fundament. I have never seen this sort of activity before, and having logged 92 hours pre-net-crash I think my sample size is fairly large.

Has an update been released or something? Why are my diggles suddenly diggling all over the goddamn place? I spent 92 hours killing them without cumpunction and suddenly they exhibit this new behaviour - and they do it constantly.

Code 8, I repeat, code 8, we need to send a team over to "take care" of another outburst of sentient AI.

There was an update about a week ago.

I kinda like it... except once, when I entered a room chock-full of digging diggles, and it would take several seconds between every move I made due to all of that digging. Other than that, it's really cool. I'd hate to see the lag in diggle hell.

OH and just for the record. You don't even need to be in offline mode to play DoD.
Whoever it was that made that decision has my eternal indebtedness. Got married and moved to a new place. it took roughly 2 weeks before we got internet and I was so happy that I could play DoD without steam.

You can open a lot of steam games by finding their folder and launching the application manually. Offline mode is just easier... when it works...
