I do not think of this as politics, and I hope Daynab agrees. (And if not, I will not complain when you close the thread, Daynab.)

Public broadcasts are being threatened in America, and likely all the world due to the flimsy excuse of "Hard Times".

I for one grew up watching Sesame Street. I could have been involved in mischief. Instead I was glued to the small 13 inch black and white screen watching a full grown man in a bird costume doing all the tame things you know Big Bird did.

Check this link to see how you can sign the petition to save public broadcasts from being eliminated from the public budget.

I kind of think if you need to say "I don't think this is politics" - it probably is.

Anyway, public broadcasting is cool, especially if it's not subsidized by ads - anything that keeps kiddies out of corporation hands is good news for me.

It's only 0.012 percent of the federal budget, so wanting to cut it to save money is a bit absurd. And I totally agree, public broadcasting is really important, especially as a means of keeping government agencies in check-- the BBC has rooted out corruption and other scandals many times.

I do wish that the Obama campaign would focus on more important things, though...like the many many lies by Romney that were fact checked after the first debate.
