After 151 hours, I have beaten Dungeons of Dredmor. I spent $5.00 on the game when it was first announced as a special on Steam. I had not heard any hype nor had any expectations. I cannot think of any other game that cost so little that I got so much value out of. I eagerly purchased the expansions and enjoyed how much they enhanced the experience. It was a fantastic game and I recommend it to anyone looking for a great time. I would like to thank the Gaslamp Games's team for such a wonderful game! I very much look forward to your next game.
I thought this was going to be a highly entertaining rant thread full of tears. Tears which could sustain my life force for a few more hours, and possibly the devs. Instead I'm met with happiness and satisfaction. Its so.. foreign and strange... yet... alluring.. I.. think this too might.. sustain me.. even longer than tears. Bravo.
Totally agree with the OP. I'm up to 120 hours on steam + about another 30 hours using the .exe instead (using mods out of steam workshop cause I crash with them, for some reason). Unlike the OP tho, I'm still not done with the game. Too many fun builds left to get to work.
I get the feeling that even once I beat this game, I'll keep playing it. It's just too much fun to mess around with different skill builds and stuff and things. And I also like having steam achievements. =P
The game gets you because while you can beat it, you won't feel like you've really won until you do it on GR/PD.
And even then, if you did so with a melee skill set you'll want to try being more wizardly, or rogueish, or gishy, or random, or...
Yeah, also trying some randoms added a bit to the lifespan of the game for me. There's a big difference between rolling with an overpowered, ideal build and having to make due with like 3-4 skills that have some synergy and a bunch of semi-useless filler.
ha ha! i got 151 hours too and im far from bored with Dredmor, and i still havent played the wizardlands DLC yet, thats gonna add at least 50 more hours
Don't get me wrong; I'm not bored of the game at all. I just need to get cracking on the rest of the games I've been neglecting.
I do not use Steam while I play Dredmor, so I have no record of the many hours I wasted away playing. But I enjoyed most of it. And I would not do anything else.
