Have you tried changing permissions for the folder where DoD keeps saved games and other stuff of the kind?

Because it's possible that it's crashing because it has insufficient rights to a folder it needs to do something in.

    Where's that at?

"/Gaslamp Games/Dungeons of Dredmor/" folder in "Your Documents".

Create the folder then and set appropriate permissions.

Thus, the root of the problem was found - DoD didn't even have permission to create the necessary folder.

Well when I name my folder that, it asks me to merge even though I can't find the gaslamp folder at all

It is a hidden folder, then. For whatever reason.
You "unhide" it (you can use the location bar to access the folder by adding its name to the end of the location bar, and from there it should be easy to access the folder's settings).

"It still didn't work" as in "you did what you were supposed to do and the game still crashes" or as in "you couldn't access the folder"?

And you made sure to give free permission to create, edit, open, and delete, everything in that folder to your system, you, and whatever other program could want to have access to it?

    Yes I did!

    Hmm...
In that case, I have no idea. Maybe running the game with administrative rights will solve the issue, but other than that I really don't know how to help you (at least right now).
