After spending about 2 hours looking for Dredmor, I was unable to find him on level 10. As far as I can tell, I've explored every room, pulled every lever, and stepped on every satanic displacement glyph I've found. Unfortunately, it looks like I've reached a unwinnable state in the game.

    I am very sad :<

Maybe go down a level and test every stairs?

Following your advice, I went up to Level 9 and tested every single one of the stairs. Sadly, I am still quite sad as Dredmor did not appear. The map appears to be fully explored.

Update: By using a bug with "Move in Mysterious Way", I was able to place myself on a suspicious looking tile (to activate the bug, use the skill while moving to move one tile into a wall). I cannot move this block. It looks like the pillar should be movable using a switch, but no such switch exists in the level.

Update 2: I blew away the wall with a bolt of mass destruction. Killed Dredmor in 5 shots.

    I sure showed him.

    Huh.
    That is strange :s

At least you got him in the end!

  7. I seem to be getting this too. Wanted to see if warrior builds are better in this patch, got all the way down to 10, and slowly cleared everything but the zoo. Thought "great, just my luck, he's somewhere behind the zoo", but after finally clearing it out...there were no other doors in there.

There are a couple of spots where I the "fog" is cleared and can see just one square of the wall on the other side of a wall, but no way to get there (if there's even a floorspace there). At least one of those spots is big enough to have a room down there, but I only have one Bolt of Mass Destruction left. Pretty sure I've pulled all the levers.

    Kind of anticlimactic.

Is backing up the appropriate .sav files in the My Documents/Gaslamp Games folder enough to restore the character if I want to try out my last Bolt on one of these walls? I wouldn't normally cheat like that, but I tend to think it's justified if the game is otherwise unwinnable :p

I played a Warrior/Rogue hybrid on normal difficulty and found the game to be pretty doable. Beat the game on my third character! Burglary made the game a cinch.

I saw the map issues Gus noted in the post. You can actually shoot through the diagonal crack using the bug I discovered with "Move in Mysterious Way" (not sure if this is an already known bug. If it isn't, moderators BEWARE). I'm not going to lie, I had no idea I could blow away the wall with the Bolt of Mass Destruction until I shot it at Dredmor. Needless to say, I was quite pleased with the result.

    Yes, that should work.

  10. Thanks Vykk. After I backed it up I realised the "Just Quit" function lets me revert to the last save too - personally I kinda don't feel like that option should exist in permadeath mode, but it came in handy here at least.

Anyway, thought I should report back since I found Dredmor; like myoia experienced, he was stuck behind a wall. Screenshots follow:

This is the first room I checked, you can see a little square of wall indicating there's space there. After destroying the wall, I found this little corridor to nowhere, bravely guarded by one very lonely leprechaun. No Dredmor.

Reloaded, tried this spot instead - same one square of wall visible. But this time, behind the wall was a certain evil lich, who I promptly killed with Nerve Staple and a blunt object (before going back to take screenshots of the area). As you can see here, there's the same little one-block-wide gap behind him that doesn't lead anywhere.

Hmm...the two little "hidden" hallways seem to both have the same room to their left ("Rough Passage 3" in rooms.xml), and the room above them both seem to be two of the semi-identical "Small Forge/Smelter/Workshop". Don't know if that's significant in relation to the cause of the problem.
