So I made a sword + dual-wielding character, and I realized... Is there actually any purpose to dual-wielding swords now? I know you get bonuses from having a sword equipped and I know you get bonuses from equipping two weapons- but is there actually any particular reason I'd specifically want two swords instead of one sword and some other good weapon?
There's a moderately good reason to do so: If you dual wield swords, you get 1.5 times the bonus from the sword skill, but if you wield a sword and a mace, for example, you'll only get the normal sword bonus. There's nothing actually preventing you from mixing weapons, and if you end up finding a superb non-sword weapon before you find a good sword, it could possibly be better if you use that other weapon instead, But all else being equal (ie. identically statted weapons), it's best to stick with two swords.
