The text box scrolls too slowly. Countless times have I gone to read the text box only finding my self waiting a minute or two for it to catch up with the actual game. An option to increase/slow or even a scroll bar could be a viable solution for those that want to read what just happened in that epic battle they just had.
+1 I concur with what TS said about the slow message scroll. It always lag behind with the actual in-game events, particularly when you're encountering a lot of monsters at once Also it would be nice to have history window in game that keep some of the most recent event messages so you could check back what happened
This also happens when you load a save game after a very busy death. That is just odd loading up your character and reading that scrolling go by when nothing is happening.
I think an extra line or two of text would actually help me a lot. When you're doing many damage types, each attack takes up three lines of text. God forbid some counter-attacks happen, and you don't know what kind of damage you were just hit with. While we're at it, can we remove the damage type text from damage messages? I know what the icons mean already -- it just takes up a lot of space.
This is one of very few Roguelikes that does not have a message window/log. I honestly have no idea why though. It seems a trivial task to incorporate a log. And it should in theory help weed out problems that may be missed because we have to just ignore the endless text that could be helpful otherwise.
Faster text. Scroll Bar. And please let us filter basic categories of information out of the combat log. Also please don't put any of this in the next patch
