Hey, I'd like to get some feedback as far as the most recent build is concerned, since this is a topic we're poking at at the moment:

    * How is the frequency of alerts right now? (The small popups in the top left.) Too common? Just right?
    * Do you find yourself ignoring the alerts sometimes? When?
    * Are there any alerts you think pop up too frequently?
    * Are there any alerts that DON'T exist for situations, that you think would be informative?

I don't think the alerts on the left corner are too frequent at all, just too easy to miss.

I think that at the very least, important first time encounters such as officially meeting the Fish People need to be an instant pop-up. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this has been a side alert for a few builds now hasn't it? Same with bandits? It's extremely easy to miss and ignore these.

Generally, pop ups don't bother me at all, but I understand why they would annoy others.

Same feeling : the left corner alerts are easy to miss, and I found myself surprised when I saw fishpeople being attacked when I did not even noticed we had contact.

One alert I'd like to see : on diplomacy, a reminder that I have enough points to make an action, not only when i'm at max level.

Oh, and another one : when a working team goes on strike, whith the reason for it.

I second the too easy to miss notion. A more distinct sound might help (is there even a sound now? Didn't notice if there is). I think they pop up more or less when needed to, so that part is fine.

Is there one for structures under attack?

All the drop downs also obscure warnings - if I leave the work party menu up while doing stuff (moving soldiers around to explore) then I miss anything important.

Oddly, I kinda liked the old system :)

There should be no way important events like bandit raids, visiting traders or hostile fish people events get missed due to other interface elements. They don't need an auto-pop-up box but some way to never miss them. Good job I don't do UI design - one of those thankless tasks (like putting indicators on BMWs!).

Missing visiting traders is sort of annoying, yeah.

It would be good if there was an alert when a colonist spots a hostile bandit/fishperson etc.

One thing I noticed was that when a bandit camp was wiped out by fish people (it was awesome to see them fight with me, btw), I didn't get a alert on it.

It feels like everything related to your survival (either bad or good things) could be a popup.
