Fertilizers, chalk and research

  1. OK. So we have sulphur fertilizer and bonemeal in the game. Are they even used? Not manually, apparently, as there is no prompt to fertilize field plot/sapling/berry bush. How far on the backburner does the implementation of that one sit?

    Also, chalk. I understand that it was used before the workshop economy was simplified (I do have some hazy recollections from Revision 31), but is it going to stay or get dummied out?

    And laboratories. How do they work? I managed to get work done only if I assigned an overseer with the "scholarly" trait to it, otherwise nothing happened, even if my workers happened to unearth some blasphemous artifacts. Now, the "scholarly" trait is not only pretty rare (I had only two overseers with it in two different games), but it's not any more common among the naturalists, who could be reasonably considered more scholarly than your average workshop foreman.
