Finding Sand Dunes is quite a Challenge

My laboratory needs a macroscope for vitally important artifact research. For this I need glass, which in turn requires sand. Sweet mother of Cog, this can be perilous. First, there's the long trek to the beach, to which I must carefully order my naturalist. Once he or she arrives, I pray there happens to be a dune at first sight, otherwise I must comb the beach up and down while running from Fish People. If Fish People are "guarding" the only dune I can find, I have to send my troops and leave my colony undefended for a very long while.

Is anyone else having a hard time getting sand? I tried to get glass with supply drops, but that never seems to happen. I guess this does add an interesting challenge to the game.

Can you click and drag to find sand dunes? I seem to recall that worked.

  3. Hopefully we can also find some melange in that sand.

Oh I can find them visually, yes, eventually. I meant it's more difficult to get to them compared to other resources. They're beach-bound, and the beach is far away and full of Fish People.

A bit of a gap in the game right now, I must admit. This would normally be the sort of thing you could trade for, or that will happen in mining. For right now, I suggest just giving Johnny Fishman what-ho and maybe using your Favours to send off for some Redcoats to clean the beaches of the Fishman Menace!

Or something. I'm glad to see people are making macroscopes, though...
