Windows Vista/7 64-bit Frequent Steam cloud save issues

    Greetings,

Short version: I make and delete characters frequently. Really frequently. Several a day. Lately they've all been on DM+permadeath difficulty with "No Time To Grind" checked. I'll often pick new skill sets or use "Last" to grab the most recent and swap a skill or two. So far, business as usual.

Since updating to the version with Steam Workshop support, however, I've noticed three problems that I believe relate to Steam cloud support:

    1. After choosing "Quit" followed by "OK" to leave the application, one of three things happens: The application closes immediately; the application hangs for up to 30 seconds, then quits; or the application hangs indefinitely (or at least 5 minutes, which is how long I waited before letting Windows shut it down).
    2. Eventually (often following the first indefinite hang in step 1), the "Last" function stops working properly. Once the problem begins to occur, starting up the application and creating a character with "Last" recalls the last skill set before the problem started occurring rather than the skill set for the most recently created character. Once I create a new character and then return to the main menu, "Last" works correctly until I close the application. Once I do that, it reverts to recalling the pre-problem skill set again on next startup.
    3. Around the same time, the game no longer remembers some or all of my user settings (such as various checkboxes on the ESC menu, autoloot options, minimap size, and so on) between application runs.

Nuking the cloud data makes the problem go away for a while, but it invariably returns within a few runs. I've noticed that one or two files in the cloud save folder are never getting updated on subsequent application runs; I suspect that this is the culprit. Maybe it's a permissions thing, or maybe it's some strange Steam-related wonkery.

This problem occurs when subscribed to and using Steam workshop mods. I have not tried playing mod-free since I first noticed the problem, nor have I tried unsubscribing from everything and running mod free. I will try these (in that order) when I get a spare moment.

That said, I'm thoroughly enjoying YHTNTEP. : D

    Cheers!

If you don't care about SteamCloud itself you can first run it with the nuke, then only start the game through the .exe and not through Steam.
Steamcloud shouldn't affect anything anymore then.

For the workshop mods however, theoretically you don't need Steam to use them, but I'm not sure how that will work.

I also am missing my autoloot settings between saving and loading a game, but I'd like to <edit>continue to</edit> use the Steam cloud to retain my saves between computers. Could autoloot be preserved as part of the <e>Cloud</e> saving process, please?

Strange, autoloot remembers fine for me yet I don't use Steam at all.
It even stays through starting a new game.

The Cloud seems to wipe last.txt and occasionally config.xml and hiscores.txt.
