Windows Vista/7 64-bit Game Hangs when casting Call of the Sandstorm (intermittently)

This has happened to me twice on my current run both times in the same approximate location.

I cleared a monster zoo, did a few other things, then came to one of those rooms with a smelter and rusty bin, iron ore, etc. I cast Sandstorm to clear the room, and the game hung. Note that I can still move the arrow around, and get tool-tips. But I pressing a button or casting a spell will not do anything. Also, I cannot move at all. I can't bring up any other screen or menu. My character goes into that idle animation as normal and stays there regardless of what I do.

The game responds to my arrow movements, but nothing else happens.

After I quit the game and restarted from the save, I ended up having to kill off the rest of the monster zoo a second time (really frustrating because the first reward I got for doing it was great, second was useless to me). Everything went fine up until I got to that room again, and the game locked up all over again in the same exact way.

BTW, I am not using any mods at all in this current run.

Yes, I had the same problem. I believe it has something to do with the Rutabagas, because it only happened when one of them was with-in the spell radius, to be precise, it happened with the level 5 "Ancient Rutabagas" for me.

It could be something to do with their charge attack, or it could have something to do with those level 5 Rutabagas specifically.

Edit: Or, of course, it may have nothing to do with the Rutabagas at all, and it was just a coincidence that it only happened when they were in the storm.

Yeah, there was a nasty bug that locked up the game when using Sandstorm on a charging Rutabaga and causing it to die on its next move. This should be fixed in the next patch!
