Windows Vista/7 64-bit Game stutters when changing music tracks

Whenever the game music isn't muted, it hangs for a split second when changing to a new music track (including upon entering/leaving Brax's shop). I wouldn't complain about this, but there is only one other time this happens, and that's when you die. As a result, my heart briefly stops whenever the music track changes as I go "oh, ****, did I just get instakilled?"

This isn't a new bug for this version; it has always been the case since I joined in around 1.05.

I've noticed this myself, but there is a couple of other times it happens. When you open a door to a room that contains certain monsters, (mummies are one I've noticed a lot) it stutters in much the same way as when you open a door to a zoo, or when the music changes.

It's always been a problem, when game is replacing tracks.

I've actually come to embrace the sudden anxiety on those moments as one of the game's unique and effective ways to really suck me into the world and care about my char.

Every time the game lags to open a door with RotDG I think its gonna be a monster zoo. However I'd rather have my game not laggy. Frame rate goes down pretty bad sometimes since expansion.

Yeah the random slowdowns have increased. Dislike that too. However, the specific stutter that makes your adrenalin flow I have come to love :)

Ah, you're a DoD adrenaline addict. Oh, dear.

    Symptoms include:
    • have trouble relaxing or sleeping (monsters spawn as turns pass during rest)
    • get easily bored (when performing repetitive actions, such as using Fungal Arts or the Lutefisk Cube)
    • work long hours and still never get done (self-explanatory)
    • good at starting relationships, but have trouble sustaining them (Permadeath)
    • uncomfortable with too much closeness and intimacy (when anything gets close to you, it inevitably tries to eat you)

Hehehe, nope, just apreciating the adrenalin distribution that's there. Apparently it's the addict part that causes those specific downsides :)

But yeah, had the same thought when I posted that :) "Wait this sounds like I'm an adrenalin junkie." :p

I noticed that too recently. It's a shame really. Will anything be done about that in future updates?
