Game Won't Render Properly?

I hope this is an alright place to put this....

I recently bought the game and it won't render properly. The basic landscape like trees and grass will render out, but water doesn't show up. Assets and characters are silvery partially rendered forms that are missing a few polygons. If I zoom in super far, I'll get some of the textures with a layer of lime green over the top. The assets - like baskets of sausages - will render out properly if I'm zoomed in. Moving about and zooming is a very slow and laggy process. The only thing that seems to work A+ is the little emotion bubbles that pop up.

My computer should be able to handle it, I recently updated to the latest driver, I've tried restarting the computer, and reinstalling the game. I've tried running it on windowed mode and at a lower resolution.

I'm so bummed, I was so excited to play. Can anyone offer some help? I'm willing to take that I goofed if it turns out my computer just can't take it, but if I can I'd like this resolved.

    Thanks,
    Anti

    Rendering-related issues pop up semi-regularly.

There are a couple of common causes:

Some weird configuration incompatibility with your video settings.

This sometimes happens when there are changes to the renderer between versions, and the settings in the config.xml don't work any more. You can fix that by changing everything back to default values. If that doesn't work, you can actually delete the entire file (because the game will regenerate it the next time you run it). You can find config.xml here:

    C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Gaslamp Games\Clockwork Empires

Your computer (generally a laptop-specific issue) is using your integrated GPU rather than your dedicated GPU.

Broadly speaking, this happens on machines with more than one GPU - laptops generally have an integrated GPU for regular stuff, and another one for things like games. Sometimes games don't use the right one. So check out these threads.

    Thanks for answering!

I tried the first trick, and unfortunately it didn't help. I went to try the second thing but Clockwork Empires isn't showing up in the NVIDIA Control Panel as a "program to customize". I tried using both "Programs on this computer" and all programs. It doesn't seem to exist according to NVIDIA.

You should be able to select Clockwork Empires by manually browsing to the game's install path, with the 'Add' button in the NVidia Control Panel. The install path is:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Clockwork Empires

And you'll be selecting Clockwork Empires.exe

Oh ok, I guess I misread that instruction. I got it to work and now it looks like things are rendering out great. The game is running just a tad slow, but it's playable now. Thanks for your help! Now I just need to get the desktop shortcut to actually show an image.

Thanks again! I get to enjoy the game now, wew!
