Been watching this game for a bit, albeit with limited interest. Recently though started getting into DF and while I've finally managed to leap the first hurdle of the difficulty tsunami, this game looks to be quite the improvement imo. It won't have near the "content" or complexities I imagine, DF having been indev for ...11 years now? (with game breaking bugs abound still =/) At any rate, I have a few questions if anyone is willing to answer: In regards to "Fun!" will this game be based off the same Goal of the inevitable discovery and "Fun!" and "FUN!" eventually ending your colony? Will you have any precise degree over your dwa-Citizens, their mannerisms and skills? Should a colony discover more "FUN" than it can handle, will we get a sort of historic entry that summarizes it's existence? For instance, a newspaper we can go through that points out some of the highlights of the town and "rumors" sorrounding its demise.
Fun is definitely a big part of the game and something we all enjoyed from DF. This has been described in more details in a past blogpost, but generally CE will emphasize macro over micro. Citizens work in squads to do things. But citizens should have their personal traits and quirks. There might be a newspaper feature in the game, but the details haven't been hammered yet. Feel free to go back in time and read some blog articles if you haven't, we post usually one a week about a specific part of the game, or development.
Thanks! I'll be sure to dig up them old blog posts, I've been reading through most bits that pop up for the last couple months or so, and loving everything I see.
There will never be a game with the complexity of Dwarf Fortress because Toady is a mad genius who would rather delineate the proper way the various types of microcline settle in soft soil in an evil region that try and CODE AND DAMN DECENT GUI! Not that I'm bitter or anything that I've been playing DF forever (Since it was still 2D) and it's all I've ever wanted.
