Today I got my first Dredmor kill(NTTG, DM, PD)! It took me 88 hours, though I will concede that a few of those were spent looking up spell effects and chatting to friends while DoD was left on in the background. Anyway, my build was: Killer Vegan Promethean Magic Mathemagic Magic Training Blood Magic Archaeology Alchemy I guess it's fairly standard. I hadn't tried running a mage with Killer Vegan before, though. It really gives you a nice boost to HP, and it takes the heat off when there are a lot of animals around. I was beginning to get worried that Dredmor had glitched behind a wall or something, but in the very last room I entered, there he was. I only got a glance before he teleported behind me. One step up and he slammed me with a bolt that took away over half of my life. I made my way into the room below to heal and buff before trying to hit him with Licence to Cast. It failed so I closed the door on him to heal up and try again, I ended up getting lucky on the second shot, letting me freely hit Dredmor with a Bolt of Squid (of which I had saved 4). Here comes the funny part, I noticed that he would continue to take damage if I hit the closed door with an obvious fireball. After about 10 casts, he fell. I didn't even have to be in the same room to kill the notorious fellow. Some would call this cheap, I call it creative In the end, I suppose I paid for my cowardly ways. Steam bugged out (or something) so I didn't get my little achievement. Oh well, time to do it again with a melee build!
Congrats! Do it again on GRPD. The nice thing about warriors is that they can hold their own for a little relatively well on DL 1. You don't have to worry about cluttered hotbars, either (or at least not as much).
