Some sort of audio swap out/alternative or selective mute for the basic diggle/slime/bats? attack sound.

I think that it does add to the character of the game and or tone in a way that I like except for when I'm faced with rooms full of them. I like the rest but I've turned my SFX down to like 30% Just because of that one sounds repetition and comparable "loudness". I imagine most of it is the frequency range and duration, hence its more in my face.

    "EEEee!"

Could just be my delicate ear hairs.

It really does fit, but it stands out so much more in the mix compared to 95% of the others. Could use its own volume slider. GF came into the room last night was in the doorway for less that 2 seconds before changing subjects to say "Wow, that's pretty brutal."

Thanks for the great game either way.

This is half the reason I never take Golemancy any more, despite how good it is. That Mustache golem is frickin ear-piercing when heard 20 times a minute for 2 hours. (the other half being the fact that having the golem out practically doubles the amount of time fights take, but that's another story)

I found this pre expansion no matter my skills, however I did take big game hunter on my first attempt post expansion. Didn't help. Well it helped, but not in the sound dept ;)

You could.. probably make a mod that does this. I'd think.

If not a mod, you could just replace X:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\dungeons of dredmor\sfx\batty\*.* with silent tracks. :)

Ya, or possibly just adding unique sounds to the dungeons inhabitants to provide a more varied listening experience. Something that one could mod in the future and if I have the time I may try my hand at. Thanks for the suggestions.

There's something very clever that terraria did to its sounds to make them seem less repetitive: a random pitch every time they play. I swear, it helps a lot.

Wow, that's a cool idea on terraria's part.

I also dislike the new sounds coming from the male protagonist. They don't sound like they come from the same organism. Theoretically, will it work if I take the original sound file, copy it, name it as the new sounds, and then replace so that all three of them have the right names but are in essence the same sound?

I had the same thing, if you mean they seem to come from 3 or so different males. Also, some grunts are a bit over the top for kicking doors, but would be nice for the unarmed skill, which I guess they're made for.

Yeah sounds more like the kind of sounds I'd do if I was mud wrestling.

For the size of the staff etc I really find the product released fantastic. I'm happy the modding was opened up as it allows for the use of a resource that they don't currently have in a larger staff to be applied to an already great game. Really this sort of tweaking is minor.

Can't wait to see what they do next. I want to find a conveniently fashioned wormhole to get their next product now.
