Would it be possible for the game to drill down until it finds the "mod" folder? That way, when people try to run from a double-wrapped zip file or folder, it'd still work. (so that \mods\Nancymancy\Nancymancy\mod\ and \mods\Nancymancy\mod\ will both work)
I would love this. Already I have posted a half dozen rezipped mods to resolve such issues for those who do not understand what is wrong. Ironically it never occurred to me to ask for this.
The Steam Workshop uploader will fix this issue. Mod structure will be validated before the zip is allowed to be uploaded to the Workshop.
I for one am still very resistant to Steam. I do not use it at all. I can use Gamefly in a Sandbox and Desura does not even need that much. I will feel cheated if mods of the future require Steam to acquire. I hope modders keep this in mind and always maintain a forum friendly version of their mods.
I'm sure most of them will since not everybody has Steam (or is on Windows/OSX), and putting stuff on the workshop literally takes like 30 seconds so it's no effort.
There will also be a stand-alone version of the mod validator. It only works if modders use it, but it'll help.
