This actually will be for buffing inventor, not cog jockey itself as much. The reason for this is so that Inventor is enough for: Removing Corruption Fluid Traps Picking up your own crafted traps, especially dwarvern landmines I think both these are fair to expect from buying Inventor, as opposed to Chief Artificer.
It does not. If anything though, this would make tinkering less of something you must quickly buy into, by letting you stop at 4 without missing much (okay, actually you do miss out on a lot of powerful stuff, but the mundane benefits are largely out of the way), like with the other crafting skills. Which would make other skills better in comparison through reducing the opportunity cost of buying their levels. Also I'm quite uncomfortable that being an Inventor means you can craft and lay traps you can't pick back up.
