At full health (115-ish) an Ancient Rutabega on Level 5 attacked me and killed me in a single turn by presumably lowering my max health to 0 through many, many stacks of Food Poisoning, added all at once and resulting in a death from "losing all of my health" rather than from the monster itself, who wasn't doing any significant damage otherwise. I'm assuming this isn't intended, but open to correction. My character's skills and buffs were as such at the time: 3 Polearms, 1 Shield Bearer, 2 Master of Arms, 4 Smithing, 3 Tinkering, 7 Clockwork Knight, 1 Paranormal Investigator I had Sensible Swiss Defensive Stance and Suit Up active.
I had much less defensive stats, but I fell victim to the same issue. I think that rutabagas should have the charge or the poisoning, not both, and they should not do the attack after the charge because they already do plenty of damage, and it will prevent another bug I mentioned already.
I just died to this as well. Was confidently smashing a zoo to pieces when this brought me from full HP (99) to 0 in one hit. 12 times food poisoning just seems slightly wrong. Pretty annoying, this character was doing quite strong. EDIT: I also noted that I have 1 HP remaining. Weird.
Did you see any connection between the number of squares they charged and the number of debuffs? I think there could be a connection, applying the debuff for every field charged instead of only once.
I also died to xtreme poisoning/charging attack of rutabagas a few times now. I 'fixed' it by disabling their dash attacks in monDB.
Don't think so, if you look at my screenshot I was just to the left of the Carmelian. The Rutabaga charged for a max of 3 fields, it came from the left.
Bumping this because I have also lost a character to one of these guys on level 5; 80 health down to 0 in one hit. Others here have cited unexpected deaths, too.
It's possible that it got me, too. I'm playing a tank build, and these are my stats in a re-load (from a save point at the start of the same zoo)
There appears to be a bug where spellmines stack their debuff as much as they're allowed, hence Asp Empowerment always maxing it's stacksize and Food Poisoning always killing people -- it has no stacksize. I'm filing the debuff stacking bug and setting a max stacksize on Food Poisoning. Edit: Ah, the thought occurs: it's not just spellmines, obviously, if the Rutabaga is doing it. I just noticed it on the poison gas cloud. Weird; still filing it.
