Is it intended that you still have a save after winning a Permadeath game?

I just finished my GR+P run a while ago, and out of curiosity I went back in and checked and I still have my save from floor 9 (the last place I save & quit) and apparently some automatic save that looks kinda old. Is that intentional?

 

The game only deletes the save and autosave files if you lose .
Why would you want it removed?
It lets you go back in case you want to increase your score a bit further before ending it I suppose.

 

Well, it just seems a bit odd that I'd be able to "try again" and beat my high score while starting at such an advantage. Just seems like maybe not intended, figured I would ask.

 

Still kinda curious about this.
