Is there a way to decode .spr files without installing .Net framework (which is apparently required for the ConvertSprites application)? I mainly use my parents' computer and I'm not sure if they'd be OK with me installing .Net

I assume you could if you had the ancient software of which they come from but I honestly couldn't tell you the name. I can ask around though.

If you haven't tried running it yet, you might not have to install .net; the last three editions of windows have included it. It just depends which framework version is required by the app versus the one bundled with the os.

Pretty much that. And if it so happens that you'd need to install another version of it, there is the possibility of telling your parents that it is an add-on/library/whatever (if they are knowledgeable about computers, you might as well ask and I doubt they'd refuse, and on the other hand, if they know nothing about them whatsoever then you might call it a "driver of sorts") created by people who made the operating system and thus totally safe. Of course the "totally safe" part is full of hope since we know that products of Microsoft aren't always the most reliable things you can get, but I think it would get the point across unless they have some sort of vendetta against the company in question.

Though honestly, I do not see the point of even informing them before simply installing it, but that's because I'm the most computer-knowledgeable person in my family, or at least in my close family as a few of my more distant family members are on similar level and we never cared to establish just who is better, and thus if I installed it none in my family would have noticed so it might be different from the situation you are in.
