I am trying to make the bolts and crossbows more balanced and will try to only include what is necessary. That means using most of what the core game already offers. New items will only be included for balancing purpose or to fill relatively large niche. Same goes for craft recipes. As you may now crossbows only have two endgame options at the moment : railgun and Bolt Eruptor. If you don't aim for that you'll end with one that you can't upgrade, properly wasting your ressources. Or you can hope for a lucky drop but seeing the crossbow ratio to other weapons it's unlikely to happen (and even when it happens if's it's not the railgun or Bolt Eruptor...). Oh and you won't have much use for anything but brass and steel, everything else goes to ammo. What if you can't find that ? Well just find a good melee weapon of course. Btw, piercing doesn't crit. All recipes only include vanilla ingredients so far. Requires all 3 expansions at the moment (images). I'm open to suggestions for new bolts and crossbows and/or balance concerning them. I cannot at the moment rebalance it by changing the values. What I can do however, is to add new weapons, bolts, gears and recipes to tinker. Tinkering is, after all, the core skill of crossbowing. There isn't enough crossbow for you to rely on dropping a good one and even if you take tinkering if you don't get / can't make steel and brass you are pretty much dead. If you ever have the chance to start with 3 steel + 3 brass you basically autowin the first floor and maybe the next floors if you aren't too unlucky. Same for iron + brass to a lesser extent. And don't let me start on traps, you cannot rely on them either. [Edit]That is, if you play a rogue and want to rely on crossbow + traps. Well I'm probably doing one things or two wrong but when I can stomp DL1 then DL2 right away with a warrior or a wizard while having such a hard time with a rogue it doesn't feel right.[/Edit]
