So, this may be intended behavior, or it may be a bug. It's unusual at least, so I thought I'd report it.

If you run out of mana when Mage's Magic Maille (one of the Warlock skills) is active, rather than the damage switching back to being Hit Point damage, or deactivating the Magic Maille status, instead your Mana goes negative. You recover MP as normal (at least for a bit. There seems to be a sanity check that will bring you back to zero from large negatives instantly), but you can't die from "normal" monster hit point damage (I haven't fully sussed out what bypasses Magic Maille), because you never lose HP from most attacks.

Thanks for the report, this was known in the beta and I'm not sure how it managed to slip through the cracks to launch.

Fortunately you don't become immortal. Mana Maille doesn't quite work that way, you do still take damage. The negative mana thing is strange though.

That's because it subtracts mana while you're hit. It can't check your current mana once your inside the spell, only mana per turn buffs do that. It would require new code to be able to remove itself if you don't have mana.

How about making it require 1 mana per turn and giving it an additional effect that regenerates 1 mana every turn it is active?
That way the net gain would be 0, and it would stop working when your mana gets down to 0.

I was thinking that too. You could use a trigger that retores 1 mana and invokes itself with a one turn delay but only if Mage's Mana Maille is currently running.

More than that, the entire way it works is kinda bizarre. I'm not sure how it's supposed to go down, but I had initially thought it would just create a buffer between health, with mana, but rather it does some things with resistances. That aside, you can stack it every time you change floors. Combine this with it never turning off, and you can essentially become immune to all but acidic damage for the price of having no mana. As soon as you get it and find some stairs you can rob all the braxes on the first floor and just steamroll going rouge x_x , then again that is the nature of a bug.

Sounds like stacking is broken again
