I've beaten the game three times now (GR/PD each time), and each time the fight's been pretty anticlimatic. Dredmor himself doesn't seem all that different from a standard named monster. He has some unique spells and decent damage resistance, but that's about it. I'd like him to be more interesting to fight, beyond just "give him even more massive resistances and damage capabilities." Of course this is harder to do since it requires new code, but hey, he's the final boss! 1) Make him immune to sleep/stun/confusion. My last guy won by stunlocking him with holy hand grenades, which was really pretty disappointing. 2) Tweak his spell list. I can't find the XML for the game to look up what he can do, but I know for one thing that corruption spell of his can go; it's pretty pointless as it stands since a few minor penalties to a weapon aren't going to make a material difference in this one last fight. Better would be to focus his spells on massive debuffs and damage fields -- ideally, damage fields that he is himself immune to. Also, a spell that teleports the player -- to adjacent to him, if the player is far away, or far away from him, if the player is adjacent. 3) Make him cast even more often. 4) Spawn him as soon as the player enters level 10 (assuming he isn't already), and let him open doors. Instead of the player trying to find Dredmor, Dredmor should be trying to find the player, and bringing a dungeon's worth of goons along with him. Fear the day he opens up a zoo for you. This would also probably require him to be able to switch places with monsters. 5) Heck, let him move through walls, either by boring through them or simply by phasing through them. There is no escaping Dredmor! 6) Give him some custom taunts.
