Make Mysterious Portals visible on the Mini-Map

Discussion in 'Suggestions' started by The Apprentice, Jun 22, 2012.

  1. Would be really nice. I've found a MP in the third room with a PD character. I will want to come back eventually, but not anytime soon.

  2. Currently stuck inside a mysterious portal. Showing them on the mini-map would negate the chance of players being unable to find the exit/mysterious portal when it is obscured by walls.

I think they should show like traps do behind walls. But on that note, I think traps and portals should highlight behind open doors and other blockers that currently obscure them. On the mini-map? I am not so sure that would be good. There is a bunch of clutter already.

I think anything obscurred by anything else should have the outline effect on it so that we can tell something is there. It may not need to be immediately recognizable, just let us know something is there and we can check it out with the mouse.

I am in favor of both of mysterious portals on minimaps and outlining anything that is behind walls. Both are very good ideas

  6. Isn't hiding items behind walls one of DoD's exploration gimmicks? It's like a little discovery when you find an artifact tucked down in a corner.

He doesn't mean that way. He means like how traps are, where if you have walls on the tile in front of the item you can't see it:
    . i .

If i is the item it will be obscured by the top of those walls

Here these should illustrate the problem. The first with the door closed and the trap blocked by a wall is the behavior we need in the second example with the same trap behind a door.
