Hi guys, I have been registered for a while now but did not write much, but I think it is time to break my silence ^^ The idea for this mod struck me some days ago, reading Blood Rites (6th Dresden Files novel), and I thought I may as well make it my first mod. It has to be said though that it will be pretty big, for I am trying to get most aspects of the Dresden Files into it. First, the Dresden Files (for those who haven't read the books): It is about the wizard Harry Dresden, a detective who uses his magic powers to earn money as a detective, police consultant for supernatural crimes, etc.. He is the only wizard with an ad in the yellow pages, in a world much like ours, where almost nobody believes in magic. Magic, in this universe, comes in three flavours: Evocation, meaning fast and flashy spells like fireballs, thaumaturgy, meaning magic that is operated in your typical magical circles, preferably with parts of the target, and rituals, which call upon the power of the Elder Gods and other beings. The magic laws, of which there are seven, are guarded by the white council, consisting of most mages which have come to some degree of power, and the wardens, mostly non-magic warriors, which act like a kind of police (and use magic to empower their fighting, but mostly not directly). The magic laws are the stuff like "Thou shalt not kill (using magic)", "Thou shalt not enslave other mortals" etc. There are all kinds of supernatural nasties too, like the fairies or fair folk from the Nevernever. Others include vampires (currently only of a white, red and black court, although "jade" ones from China/Asia have been mentioned), demons, and Elder Gods. Enough of that, lets go on to see the initial designs of the skill trees (No damage values/details yet) Wizard of the white council: (Mage) (For the first part, your typical Harry Dresden) Level 1: Fuego!: A Fire projectile, dealing little damage initially, but scaling Level 2: Ventas Servitas!: Do you know wind magic? Kinda like the first skill of it, although in an are like this: xxx xxx xxx .x. or something. Level 3: Full member of the white council: Stat boosts. Level 4: Silver Ring: You have a silver ring that absorbs some of the movement of your arms, but saves it and can channel it into a mighty blast. Should stack like once every 3-5 turns, max 20 stacks, 1-2 + scaling per stack. Casting reduces stacks to 0 obviously, and you cannot cast with less than 5 stacks or so (could be done by cooldown). Also knockback, and could maybe be a projectile with an AE around target like this: xxxxxxx .xxxxx. ..xox.. (o=target) Level 5: Blackstaff: You are allowed the use of black magic. Stat boosts. Level 6: Voodo puppet: single target medium damage with stun. Level 7: Satellite Drop: Drop a satellite onto your target, large AOE and high damage, high mana cost and high cooldown. Level 8: Entropy Curse: Capstone. The capstone, and frightingly powerful: An entropy curse sets the universe against somebody - Example: A victim was hit by a car - while waterskiing. Could be done by making the target suffer 1 random spell per round for 20 rounds/ 2 per round for 10 rounds or so. Should still go on around the victim if it dies, but should cost maybe 70-100 mana, some hp, on a 70-100 cd. Spells should be chosen from random offensive spells. Skilltree should give bonuses to magic power and a slight one to the stat that adds magic power, mana and reduces spell cost on Blackstaff.( Name escapes me). Skill: Vampire of the White Court: (Rouge/wizard) The beings known as succubi and incubi in other works (and called so even in this from time to time). No common vamp weaknesses, always looks human (Except in the state that equals Feeding Frenzy here, wherein they glow in a silvery light)[Don't worry, older than twilight] Better reflexes and strength than humans, weaker than other vamps. Level 1: Stunning Charm: 1 enemy is stunned for 3 rounds, suffers a little damage, heals vamp a little. Level 2: Charming Charm: 1 enemy is charmec into fighting for you, duration could be 10-15 rounds. Level 3: Feast: Since White Court Vampires feast off of emotions (mostly during intercourse), They make the victim feal REALLY good with this spell. Stun, Damage due to sucked off lifeforce, mana and hp restore for the vamp. Level 4:Controlling the Hunger: Explanation: The Hunnger (note capital H) is like a symbiont, giving the vamps their power, but taking power to be kept alive. Feasting sates it. If the vamp has no reserves, he goes into a frenzy and feeds off anything that moves. Should give buffs to stats since the vamp mastered his control over it. Level 5: Stunning appereance: Area taunt and life-/manadrain centered around the caster. Level 6: Feeding Frenzy: Capstone. The vamp lets the hunger control him willingly, starting to glow in a silvery light, making everyone around him pretty wild. Active buff that gives lifeleech (both area and on attack) and (if possible) chance to charm nearby monsters, while empowering the other vampire skills. Whole tree should give liferegen and stubborness bonus, maybe some manaregen and magic power Skill: Vampire of the red council: (Rouge/warrior) A more typical kind of vampire, feasting off the blood of its' enemies, while having addictive saliva. Looks like a human bat in sunlight, human in other light. Weak against symbols of the wearer's faith, like crosses, pentagramms etc. Weak against having it's head lopped off, although they have nice regeneratie powers otherwise. Sunlight burns them. Kind of my attempt of a better vampirism skilltree than the vanilla one. Level 1: Vampire Fledgeling: Liferegen on hit (Working like food) Level 2: Sucking Blood: Damage with heal to the caster. Enemy stunned for 2 rounds. Melee range. Level 3: Respect the Accords!: Enemy is stunned because the old law says so! Level 4: Accepted Vampire: More liferegen on hit. Level 5: Addict Enemy: You spit your saliva onto an enemy, addicting him to it. Maybe 10-15 rounds of charm. Level 6: Red Court noble: You are a noble of the red court now! More liferegen on hit, maybe ability to call 2 vampire goons up. Level 7: Suck Him Empty!: Capstone. Singletarget nuke with heal on caster. Damage should scale to burliness or something, heal to health regen and/or damage done. Whole tree should give health regen boosts, with which the liferegen on hit should also scale. Should also give medium righteous resist penalty. Skill: Vampire of the Black Court: (Warrior) The black court vamps are (even said in the books) straight from Bram Stoker's Dracula (which was, in-Universe, published by the white court to enable the decimation of the black court, which worked.) Only the strongest and most intelligent are still alive, because they are allergic to garlic, holy water, you name it, they combust upon touching it. They can take a beating of anything else though, although they (except the strongest) combust in sunlight. Also weaker while it is day. Level 1: Dead Flesh: Resists. Maybe against crushing, piercing and slicing, as should the rest of the tree give, too. Level 2: Enthrall: Makes your enemy your servant for some rounds. Cooldown should be roughly the same as duration. (Can in-Universe be removed, by things like taking him away from the vamp for some time or therapy) Level 3: Undead Power!: You feel your vampiric powers awakening. Necro damage and +Burliness and stubbornness. Level 4: Create Renfield: Do you know Renfield from Dracula? These things are mindless ex-humans, impossible to save, growing stronger and more insane as time goes on, and finally collapsing after 2 months or so. Should enthrall an enemy, give him damage buffs and defense debuffs gowing over time, dying automatically after 10-20 rounds. Cooldown maybe around 30 rounds. Level 5: Black Court Elder: Now you are an Elder of the Black Court, or at least feel like one. Statboosts (should be kinda big) Level 6: Vampire PAWNCH!: Capstone. You heard of captain Falcon. You are doing it better. Melee attack with massive damage and AE behind the target Whole tree should give stubbornness, health, burliness and melee power boosts, while severely debuffing righteous resist. Also buff resist against physical and some magical kinds of damage. These are the skills I have thought up yet. Other stuff should include some mobs (vamps, faries, later demons and rouge wizards). Currently thinking of what I could put into a Knight of The Cross skilltree. Items could be holy water, garlic bomb, garlic/holy water paintball gun (LOREFIRENDLY TO DRESDEN FILES), Sword of The Cross, different staffs, potions. I havent coded before, will now look up tutorials, would love feedback, and also help from professional modders.
