Presumably I did something wrong here >.< Anyway it's saying that it failed to load some graphics, and I can't quite figure out why? The specific error is "Cannot load PNG file [random chinese characters] the game will now crash." (I think I could be misremembering? What exactly is the format supposed to be for referring to graphics? Is it possible also that my shittily edited placeholder graphics are in a bad format somehow? There's depressingly little information on the mod wiki about how graphics work >.<
The text there is actually a bug in the latest hotfix. I would suggest actually reverting to an older version to test it and get an actual anme.
Lol oops I had the extension as 'jpg' >.< EDIT: Well it's still crashing randomly. Now there's no warning message though, eaghhhh. Alright I'll go look through this again.
Okay so I made it work by copying graphics sprites from the main game, but that's even less useful then placeholder graphics and I'd rather my items NOT look indistinguishable from other items while I'm trying to test more complicated things. So er, is there a resource somewhere describing what you need to do with graphics files and how to make them work and what software to use? BEcause I've only seen a few sort of disconnected stuffs that aren't actually very useful when I'm trying to learn all this from scratch. >.< Thanks
You need to use an image editing software, and you need to use pngs. That's seriously about it (monster etc sprites are a lot more complicated)
Hmmm 'cause I did that and it crashed things >.< ...wait I resaved the image in paint and it worked. Except now it has no transparency. >.< Which is, I suppose, feasible for placeholder graphics but still >.< (I was using GIMP originally, and that seemed to be creating broken files? IDK >.<)
GIMP doesn't index correctly so it makes the game crash. I think it works if you open your image in pxlr.com and then save it as PNG.
Yeah I figured it out and saved the files in RGB mode instead >.< I'll keep pxlr in mind in case I make graphics that aren't simply placeholders ^_^
