It would be helpful to be able to narrow stockpiles down to specific items rather than vague categories. For example a stock pile next to the a mine might need mine shorings and allow for raw ores (but, not wood) to be placed in it.
+1 The current system makes it hard to control where things go when expanding the colony (especially if you're spreading mines all over the place or you're chopping wood far away). I've been wondering if a tag-based system would work or be too complex/reveal too many inner mechanics (but just subcategories would do really).
Yeah I'd be down with it. At least the ability to funnel mining output to a metalworks and lumber/whatevs to carpenters.
