I just discovered this bug while playing my Necronomiconomist/Fungal Arts focused character (I called him Mi-go Amigo), but upon loading a saved game where I had my slime pet still out, I noticed my slime pet would not attack any monsters but still chase after them. So I attempted to summon the pet again, but oddly enough my first slime didn't disappear like he should have, and now I have two slimes! The first slime is still as useless as ever, but the new slime is behaving as normal. I think the state of the pets are not saving with the rest of the world, and thus when the game loads their AI is wonky and for some reason the game doesn't detect them when I summon a new pet. The workaround for this is to just summon a new pet and kill the old one (which is ok for me, I can never have enough corpses for mushrooms!).
