My experiance after not playing in a long time.

Yesterday I decided to play some Clockwork empires for the first time in about 8 months, for 7 hours straight. Obviously I like the changes. I was playing version 49A (experimental?). I tried to play it straight without checking the forums or wiki's, but had to Google some stuff. Here are my thoughts.
I started of the same as before, carpenter, kitchen, crop then a packed flophouse full of cots. Somewhere in this I noticed the logs and mushrooms were all over the place, so I built a small 2nd stockpile at the new edge of the forest, it helped a little. I started with a wheat farm, this is apparently a bad idea. I put a small food only stockpile between the farm and the kitchen, this turned into a meeting place of sorts, and unfortunately lots of people were in easy slapping range of each other. The lapses in food and poor sleeping conditions created a bit of an anger spiral which I managed to recover from by adding 2 cabbage farms and swapping out the cooking and farming work groups with ones that were not so angry. While doing that I moved 1/3 of the total overseers (½ that were actually working) to night shift. This did seem to improve mood as more people could sleep in the limited beds, and their was always some food somewhere. I got several annoying messages about a lack of barracks, so that was built next, further alleviating the bed issue.
The next stage was creating infrastructure now that the basic needs were met. After looking at requirements I quickly determined ceramics was next. While the ceramics workshop was getting it's modules, I got an annoying message that my colonists want a chapel. I would get these for the rest of the session, so 5+ hours of people demanding I build something that I can't. This is my biggest complaint, that I was getting annoying prompts and angering workers for not having a late game building. The way I would fix it would be to have the shrine decor help somehow, but I have no clue how hard that would be to program.
I spent the rest of the time chasing a chapel. The only thing I had to look up outside of the game was how to get sand, since I had an inland start foolishly hoping to reduce fish-people interactions. So after ceramics I built a chemist, then found out I needed glass for the workbench. A quick naturalist for surveys, but I really had him dissect... a lot. I then built a mine, and while the sand to chemist bench was happening, I built a metalworks. While trying to upgrade to a metal brick oven, I crashed the game. The crash happened when I tried to move an older stone one to make room for the new. I then noticed it was dark outside and figured I should do something else, like stand up.

After spending some time on the forums reading up on things, I now know I was led down a side path by the chapel demands of my people. I think my choices were logical with the information I was given in game, so I view this as a problem with the game. Unfortunately I have no ideas how to fix it other than “do something with the shrine decor”.

Bugs: 3 things I saw. The first time I tried to start a new game, it crashed and dumped me to my desktop, no error messages or anything. When I tried to generate a world, the game froze for an extended period of time, then resumed. I did this repeatedly since starting a new game crashed and I doubted my version 27 saves would work. Eventually I tried starting a new game again and it worked fine. Finally I crashed the game moving the stone oven in the ceramics workshop. Over the course of this game I tabbed out many times with no ill effects, unlike certain AAA games I play regularly.

I forgot to mention that I had stuff all over the place until I crated a second Hauling only work group, and set it to night shift (start at sunset).

Highlight of the day was apparently 2 bandits fighting over a woman. They were shooting each other and her. She died, redcoats showed up and killed them both while a neutral fish-person butchered her. They killed the fish-person in disgust. My naturalist dissected, and wrote a paper improving my relations with all foreign factions.

I just tried to start up again after a while away, and I got the same crash to desktop with no error. Worked the second time though.

Looking forward to the new changes!

@Krentz there is a bug in the *current* 49 where if you had to generate a new world, it might crash. This has been fixed for 49B.

Good to know. Still, I've been playing it for a couple hours with no further issues. No biggie.
