I love the game! But I feel like there are a few things that could really improve the game. 1. Roads. This would be entirely decorative in nature. I would really like to be able to draw roads. We have stone, why cant we make roads? It woudl make for a more authentic colony feeling I feel like. 2. Lights that keep the darkness at bay. I havent made any lamps yet, but it sais they are purely decorative. I find that really dissapointing. you basically already see whats going on in the minimap, why cant we light up the colony so we always have vision? 3. Gates. Like really? I dont understand how they have the technology to make steam knights, but not the technology to make a simple gate. 4. Make a single module be able to have multiple orders. Its quite frustrating to either switch the module jobs all the time, or have like 5 workbenches to do 5 differnt things. 5. If you tell them to make something, and you dont have the right materials, but can craft the materials. Make them do so automatically. Again, its quite odd that you have to tell them to first make a bric-a-brac before they make a simple cabinet for example. 6. Add an option to the naturalist to automatically gather and dissect fishpeople corpses. Its annoying to keep an eye out for the corpses and then play pixel hunt to finally be able to select them. Not to mention you lose them if they get dumped because of the fog of war. Otherwise its a really great game but I feel like there are a bunch of things that should have been there from the start.
I suspect we will see roads sooner rather than later. Light fixtures DO generate light, and look cool in the process.
They've said roads were cut due to UI issues, they didn't elaborate what the UI issues were though. Lights do generate light, but don't remove the fog-of-war so if you build one out in the middle of a forest you'll only see the light from it if a colonist is nearby. I imagine gates were another thing cut due to UI issues. They would excellent since right now enemies and wild animals just charge right into the middle of your colony and it turns into a mosh pit. It's even worse if either side has grenades. A queue would be nice. I didn't have too much of a problem with this, I can see the frustrations though. This would be good.
Roads were cut because other issues were prioritized above the work to properly implement and validate roads.
I'd definitely like lights to do more than just illuminate. Like if a colonist is traipsing around in the dark they get +fear, or they get +safety from lights at night or something (I mean I'm still going to stick lights everywhere cos they look cool, but it feels like a missed opportunity to not have any mechanics attached to them).
