    1) Our civilians are more brave then our soldiers! Soldiers should stand and fight instead of running the fish person clear across the village before he turns and takes a swing. And what's the deal with the soldiers running over twice as far as a civilian before taking a swing anyway?
    2) incoming colonists - another button added that includes "one skilled soldier(overseer)"
    3) Each villager and "working" soldier carries something that allows for killing wildlife for food. Implement something that the civilians can take a quick pot shot at the fish person before running for their lives. Make the damage the same or slightly less then the pistol the soldier uses. This way the civilians have Some kind of chance if their is a group of them tending farm or some such.
    4) just got wiped because of 4 waves of 15+ fish people at a time. I only had 27 civilians at the time. Even had my civilians armed themselves, i woulda been taken out. There should be some kind of timer like that of supply drop or immegrants, and there should be some kind of factor for how many people you actually have.
    5) soldiers should have their weapon on them whether on their back or in their holster at all times. This way when something does happen they don't have to travel all the way back to base to get their gun. by time they finish doing this at least 2 civilians are toast.

The number of fishpeople attacking increases ten at a time, starting from 10 and ending at 40. Did you by any chance forage caviar? Because otherwise, 15+ is too much.

I have thus far managed to survive with the use of the Rally button. I agree that there should be some sort of way you can obtain NCO's if you do manage to loose them. You can get them through the "Three of Anything" but is random as you know. Perhaps what you suggested or even a way of promoting your soldiers into officers.

I do agree with your last suggestion though. All Military personnel should be able to permanently carry weapons. I would say have pistols can be stowed on leg or across waist, as for muskets they should be able to carry as they do now. I would think in future perhaps they have to obtain some sort of holster for their back in order to carry muskets. I would have them stored in the Armoury as oppose to the stockpile and have soldiers tending to "hang out" there more often.

With the current commands, working ones I should say, you are limited as to how safe you can keep people. When you get a wave of like 30-40 fish people attacking your settlement and you have only 1 Regiment containing maybe 8 soldiers. You will be lucky if you can fend them all off without any casualties or your soldiers all running off in opposite directions :p

That could explain it. It's very inconsistent.
