It's either a bug or a unique trait of a certain weapon (or maybe a monster ability?): The Sword of Bjork, son of... I bought one when I was around level7, and by the time I was 10 or so it developed a -1 resist, long after using it on an anvil of krong. Eventually more negative stats were added to it, until eventually it wasn't worth using any more. Luckily I found another of the same sword in a shop, so bought it again. Applied another anvil, giving some extra damage. Then, now I'm level 14, it's suddenly got a -1 resist on it as well. Anyone encoutnered this before? ps. also, having -1 of resist x should surely mean all incoming damage of type x is increased by 1, rather than taking 1 of that damage type off EVERY attack (eg a toxic slime doing piercing damage due to having -1 pierce resist)
It's corruption, it adds negative stats to your equipment. You can get it from the magic dragons and corrupted slime things but also from corruption traps. The monster tooltip mentions if the monster does a corruption effect. Best way is to kill these monsters from a distance or take off all your equipment and kick
Ahh okay, I actually just a reached level6 a minute ago and saw it on the magic dragons tooltip, but hadn't seen it on anything before then. Thanks
Yeah, until they add some way to protect your gear, you should basically just remove everything, kick or spell the dragons/slimes to death, then put your stuff back on.
