Aurochs seem to love hanging out in the center of town. When the food stockpile runs low, I just turn on hunting jobs for thirty seconds or so and steak galore. Is this a lesson about extinction, or pathfinding?
All the animals tend to head to your town. They worship you and want to make sure you don't run out of food. They understand you are more important than them. Or it might be the cultists practicing their summoning rituals on readily available wildlife...
Funny story! The AI preference for animals is reversed for some reason, so they would indeed gather in the center of "civilization". This has been corrected for the next patch.
Aw .. I was relying on that early-game surge of meat to feed my colonists while my farms were getting up to speed.
