I'm new to the game, enjoying it but still learning the ropes I'm currently using http://www.dredmorwiki.com/wiki/Builds:Animator-Survivalist But I would prefer a build that focuses on pets Permanent pets preferred More pets would also be cool Also if I have the moustache pet & raise zombies, my moustache unsummons 50% of the time, is it meant to? Thanks
Not sure where the edit button is I'm also looking for a build that will survive & plod onwards without massive amounts of micromanagement etc
Even the toughest pet in the game won't get you much past floor 7, and you can only have one "major summon" (moustache golem, robo that loves, fire drake, etc) at a time. They don't scale or anything, so at best you can get a few turns of distraction. Raise zombys summons additional zombies until you hit 9 pets, then the current pets are dispelled to make room for more. That's probably what's happening.
Oh, I thought I would be able to finish the game using pets Any suggestions/links for a build that can reach level 15 & can deal with traps? Or a build that can craft? It looks interesting but not sure if crafting skills are worth it This is my current build, but it seems dependant on Thaumite swarm & after the monsters are dead, I'm left with many tiles that have Thaumite swarm on them which I have to try & avoid Build Name Animator-Survivalist Skill 1 Golemancy Skill 2 Fleshsmithing Skill 3 Mathemagic Skill 4 Astrology Skill 5 Magic Training Skill 6 Blood Mage Skill 7 Ley Walker This is a "pure magician" build with focus on defense and mana-reserve rather than attack skills. While "Golemancy" provides you with enough means to destroy your foes (at first with golems, later with miasmic clouds), the combination of Fleshsmithing and Astrology gives you great defence against most of the attackers, while "Mathemagic"'s teleport remains a very efficient method of escape even if you find yourself in deadliest situations. The weakest point of the build is traps, especially the acidic/poisonous ones, and your own miasmic clowds. Watch your step! The most difficult thing while using this build is to get your first level up - for that, you'll have to use only the "Blade Golem" spell, which is not very handy. But after slashing a few mobs, you'll be able to get "Moustache Golem" and things will finally go easy. Next necessary thing is to maximize "Ley Walker" and put an additional point into "Blood Mage" - this way, you'll have enough mana to last when you stumble upon "Monster 300" rooms. After that, make sure to get "Unliving wall" and "Thaumite swarm" and voila - you're ready to roll. With the help of the Wall you can trap any number of enemies in a room or surround yourself with impenetrable barrier, and "Swarm" will make short work even of the strongest of the monsters. No need to get the rest of the skills in the "Golemancy" section - after you get the "Swarm", golems become obsolete. Don't forget to maximize "Blood Mage" and "Magic Training" when you're done with "Golemancy". Then, the choice is entirely yours - either go for "Astrology" and "Fleshsmithing" for maximum protection, or improve "Mathemagic" to get the controllable teleport. Good luck!
There's a summoner mod skill that gives you summons who are viable for quite some time, but it does that by making them amazingly overpowered in the beginning of the game. You could try a charming-build. Unlike pets, charming monsters means every time your enemies get stronger, so do your minions. But since the best way to do that is at the end of Psyonics, your build is going to look an awful lot like a normal wizard.
Endgame capable crafting build that can handle all traps: Please Recommend a Rogue Scientist Build Also, some of the wiki articles can be outdated. If you run w/ the ECSRII, you can squeeze a little more out of a Robot That Loves or other high-end pet by adding Fungal Arts, which gives a fairly strong pet-only buff.
