I would really like to see one more expansion for DoD. But I'm afraid other players may have enough of them, so here is a poll to see what people think.

I'd love to see an expansion that refreshes the early levels, adding new monsters and special abilities to existing ones, new equipment (e.g. nice focus on two handed weapons) etc.

Some have noted that since work in Clockwork Empires has begun, time for DoD will be short and limited to bugfixing and possibly balance changes.

However, others have notioned the possibility of another "Community Expansion" ala YHTNTEP. This would take less work than a GLG made expansion, I think. So there's that.

I think it'd be for a while, though. CotW came out pretty recently, still.

Seeing as I don't want to just repeat what Nikolai said a few minutes ago, I'll just say that I agree with his post (and I wrote that instead of merely "liking" his posts because we are supposed to give our opinions here, not just grade others' opinions).

I support the concept of a YHTNTEP 2. That's all I have to say. :)

Just a guessing game on my part, but it seems that such a vast project as CE will eat in GLG financial reserves and hence a DoD expansion, which should not be very time consuming to make can be an attractive idea.

A high difficulty expansion would be nice. An expansion with a 4th difficulty which should be really scary, dangerous and slightly unfair:

    "Gravediggler":
    • Monster HP global scaler 1.55
    • Additional monster HP percent per level 0.25
    • Additional monster HP per level 11
    • Monster level +5
    • Store Purchase prices 323% of value
    • Store Sell prices 17% of value
    • HP regeneration turns 21
    • SP regeneration turns 16
    • Monster Spawn turns 140
    • Vending Machine prices 251% of value
    • Monster gold drop multiplier 3
    • Minimum food per level 18
    • Traps per level 145
    • Named monsters have +5 damage per level, +8 total primary stat points, +10 total secondary stat points
    • Debuffs have a chance to recast instead of vanishing
    • Monster spell reflection
    • Chance of casting failure which hits the player
    • Corruption of non-artefacts
    • Diseases/illness debuffs with nearby monsters and pets
    • Buffs have a chance to vanish before timeout
    • Chance of "Ennui"/"Tentacles"/etc. debuffs when just waiting for regeneration of HP/SP
    • Chance of stumbling while exploring new area and "Hurt Leg" debuff.
    • Chance to drop weapon when a critical hit is blocked
    • Failure Chance when using a dispenser ("You received plastic bolts instead of bolts of squish." -> another item "The dispenser seems more satisfied after your payment" -> no item, "You hurt yourself with the dispenser" -> just loss of HP(DLV-DLV*2 HP damage))

I like this concept. I'm a fan of challenge. And I hate to sound like a grinch, but I don't think this particular suggestion is a good idea.

Look at how many items in that list have the word "Chance" in it. Difficulty from random chance isn't fun, because it doesn't allow the player to make any decisions about how to deal with that. If you just randomly got Eldritch Inhabitation, you'd likely die, and that's Not Fun because you didn't even step on a trap or anything.

I agree with the Comrade. From what I understand, the whole thing with roguelikes is they're fiendishly difficult but it's not so much about chance (well, there is a large element of chance), but more about forcing the player to adapt to the game. Enemies might have a special attack that does X Damage unless you have Z of Resistance A, in which case it does X/8 Damage. So rather than leaving things to chance, it's more about being prepared to react differently to different things.

But I'm not sure another difficulty level is really the answer. I've felt that the patches and expansions have made the game harder as they've been added anyway.

I would love a 4th difficulty, but yeah. No random chance things. Higher scaling though...yes please.

    No I don't. I want more expansions.
    About daggles.
Realm of the Daggle Gods (featuring also Weredaggle skill tree).
You Have to Name the Daggle Pack.
    Conquest of the Dagglelands.
And a later pach which adds puke to the daggle's puke.
I'd really want to see more expansion packs from Gaslamp guys, but after the gods and the wizardlands I cannot image something new added. And those folks ALWAYS add something new.

    Essence Will Mod for Digglebucks

Really at this point I'd be quite happy if there were one more major update with the purpose of giving modders several dozen triggers to base their crazy ideas off of, and then it was left to us to flesh out. With things like Project Heimdallr stalled due to the desire for new triggers, Swashbuckler using crazy high-XML chop-shops to simulate what would be pretty simple XML hooks, and the Vaults of Maslech building toward being a YHTNTEP-sized mini-expansion all on it's own, I think the community here is fully capable of adding content to DoD until it's overwhelmed and you rarely see the same thing twice. Just a few dozen more hours of moving hardcoded whatnots over to XML and adding a few triggers (HaywireBuff, MagicResistBuff, MagicReflectBuff, DonBuff, DoffBuff, and so forth) and I'd be good. Real good.

Edit: Oh, and more scaling. Buff amounts, DoT durations, and buff upkeeps (both MP and Zorkmid) should be able to scale.

Pshaw, like anyone would say no to that!
I don't know how feasible it is for Gaslamp to make another expansion since they are busy with their next game but more content (free or not) is always welcome

Not really stalled, just slow-moving and what is stalled is just a small part of the whole thing (just wanted to clarify so that people wouldn't think it's their fault for us not being able to get to decent speed).

But still, I wholeheartedly agree with what you wrote.
