Since a few builds ago, gossiping no longer shows us a "talk bubble" for whichever subject is being discussed. Is this intentional, and will they be put back in? Does gossip still spread ideas like communism? I haven't seen communism spread in quite a long time--even with plenty of communist colonists. I know gossip itself isn't a catalyst for starting cults, but does it have anything to do with recruiting? Because as of now, cults are extremely slow to spread and grow, despite having all the conditions met. I'm thinking gossip in general might need to be turned up a bit, at least at night. It seems colonists tend to be idle far more than they gossip.
Loads of social job rebalancing is happening! Gossip icons will be receiving some attention in the upcoming experimental release (38B) so ah, check 'em out soon! Would love to hear your thoughts. Organized Communism doesn't spread as-such as it isn't even a game system (I am however working on some fascinating infrastructure which might enable such things, but we'll see if/when that happens; CE isn't fundamentally about communist uprisings so it's not a strong priority). Gossip doesn't affect recruiting /except/ in how it increases how much characters like each other (or the reverse). A character who is asked to join a cult by someone they really like is naturally more inclined to join that cult.
38b has made a world of difference. Socializing feels natural, there's a good balance of emotions going on, and gossip happens on a regular basis. Thank you good sir, this is what I've been waiting for. I do kind of wish I could see the gossip icons on all zoom levels, but that's no big deal. On a side note, cults are now spreading much faster, which is a very good thing. For the first time I feel I like may actually have a use for laudanum and chapels. My new goal is to witness a downward tantrum spiral.
